During the Scotland Castle Artist Retreat held in Forres, Scotland from June 16-23rd, 2023, an emerging artist of the southeastern region of the United States, will have the opportunity to be awarded an artist residency held at Brodie Castle, nestled along the edges of the Moray Firth in the Scottish Highlands. The resident artist will reside in the Laird’s Wing of Brodie Castle with other artists attending the eight day retreat, and will be given a designated work area in the 800 year old castle stables loft located just behind the castle. Besides giving the artists attending the retreat a demonstration and artist talk, the resident artist will participate in an end of the residency exhibition held in the stables of Brodie Castle. The resident artist will also travel with the group to off-site excursions allowing for documentation, deep exploration, responsive painting, sketching, and creating opportunities. All meals at the castle, lodging in the Lairds Wing, and transportation from and to the airport are provided.
Other financial stipends aiding in providing art supplies and airfare may be available through our available sponsors. The resident artist may apply for these financial stipends once the residency has been awarded.
Applicants must be enrolled in a BFA or an MFA program or has recently graduated from an institution with a degree in fine arts.
