Storyteller

Margot Henderson

Scotland is the land of myths, folklore and legends The stories of Scotland have iinspired writers, and poets for centuries. Historic figures such as Robert Louis Stevenson (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde…written about a Brodie) and Robert Burns both stated that as children they were told tales about magic, witches and ghosts. So…what better way to immerse ourselves in this tradition than to have our very own visiting storyteller, Margo Henderson, tell us riveting and soul stirring stories in the historical 2nd floor sitting room of Brodie Castle, sitting just yards away from MacBeth’s Hillock, the place where legend states that MacBeth met the three witches.

Being of Scots/Irish origin, Margot Henderson’s work is steeped in the oral tradition and she combines music, song, dance, poetry and story. Much of Margot’s work has been site specific in galleries, museums and theatres, as well as forests, gardens, quarries and ruined abbeys. She sources local stories and reanimates them to deepen people’s sense of their roots. She has a deep love of nature and a keen sense of our interconnectedness.
